Shop Local Holiday Gift Guide

Awesome Bay Area shops and entrepreneurs to support this holiday season

December 18, 2020

It’s that time of year when a segment of us think about giving away things to celebrate community and family… it’s an odd tradition, I’m both dismissive of it and a part of it. Weird. (¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

That said, the community part, over this last year, has been especially intense. We’re all separated by this together. . Two Hats is lucky and blessed to have a strong community that’s been extended across the country by COVID. Growing closer to clients in Oregon, Seattle, and Pittsburgh of all places. I’m grateful, grateful for every connection that’s been strengthened, and all the new connections as well. You are a part of that too, thank you.

Which brings us to stuff, and services, and this habit of buying between the end of November and December every year. Then we give it all away to people who, if it’s all done right, never asked for the stuff but are magically delighted to have a new thing. I generally tend to give away events and services because they’re easier to store, but this year especially, I’m focused on local Bay Area shops and entrepreneurs in our community. The Two Hats crew pulled together a great shop local list. Check it below :)

All the Loves~

John Van Dinther

Bakesale Betty Oakland California

Bakesale Betty – When you need seriously delicious soul food, Brendan orders fried chicken sandwiches and the occasional strawberry shortcake. Cannot resist!

Green Apple Books San Francisco California

Green Apple Books – The only upside to the pandemic — way more reading. Totally. Mischa enjoys fiction novels and memoirs (she is especially excited to gift Barack Obama’s new book).

Holistic Resistance Bay Area California

Holistic Resistance – 2020 is the year of dismantling overwhelming systems of oppression and inspiring change. John has been actively working with Holistic Resistance and highly recommends connecting with Aaron Johnson as a coach.

Moldover Guitar Bay Area California

Moldover – Music has been keeping Jacob dancin’ and he recommends for music enthusiasts to check out Moldover, and his guitar designs that rock!

O Olive Oil & Vinegar Petaluma California

O Olive Oil & Vinegar – Eric is stirring up a healthy dose of nutritional meals: salads, baked things, and roasted veggies. Full loves for the garlic olive oil and champagne lemon vinegar.

Plant Spirit Talk Oakland California

Plant Spirit Talk – Herbs are allies. Jen feels supported, nurtured, and smelling good because Francisca’s essential oil mist blends. So divine!

Scarlet Sage Herb Co. Mission District San Francisco California

Scarlet Sage Herb Co. – Kasha just stocked up on herbs from Scarlet Sage. She’ll be making infusions of mullein and oatstraw to keep her lungs strong and stress low. John has been working with the renowned Laura Ash since 2005 and her magical concoction have saved his life more than once.

Tony Leonard Coaching

Tony Leonard Coaching – Tony is a great coach because he is not only empathetic and a great listener, but he has tools based on both theory and lived experience. Damian feels lighter and more powerful after a session with Tony.

(*no stores, people, or shops paid to be part of this list, in fact they don’t even know they’re on this list unless they’re reading it now. That’s that. Shop local.)
